             Move What You Can Virtual Challenge

 The Big Picture- The Move What You Can Challenge is a month long fitness challenge and awareness campaign to encourage people with disabilities to be physically active most days of the week, regardless of their ability and to encourage the able bodied community to support them by joining the challenge. The race brings together an online community of people of all abilities and fitness levels to encourage and motivate each other to "Move What You Can!".

On April 30, 1985, Mike King, a paraplegic injured in a motorcycle accident, set out on a EPIC journey that would take him from Fairbanks, Alaska toWashington, D.C. His mode of transportation…a wheelchair, which he pushed 5605.8 miles to his final destination of 5600 Pennsylvania Avenue. His reasons for taking on this challenge were clear…to encourage others who faced disability and other life challenges to stay active and to live with courage, hope and purpose.  Now Mike invites us to join him on another EPIC challange as we recreate those 5605.8 miles together. Participants complete any amount of miles they want by walking, rolling, working out, skipping, dancing, on two feet or two wheels. They can complete one mile or all 5605.8...whew!

The Nuts and Bolts (how it works):

Step 1 – Register for the race online at our MoveWhat You Can Race Page and pay your race fee. Registration includes:  Awesome finisher medal, sweet athletic towel to wipe off the sweat and some add on if you choose to include those in your purchase.

Step 2 – Begin logging and entering miles into the site once the race starts on October 1st.  Watch the leader board to see how you stack up and watch our collective miles keep us moving along that route Mike took so long ago, as we make our way from Fairbanks, Alaska toWashington, D.C. Feel free to chime in on the message board. We like to keep it encouraging, but a little trash talk amongst friends never hurt anyone.

Step 3 – Join our Facebook group (optional)  We will be posting giveaways each week, encouraging participants to post photos and comments as they complete their miles. We will frequently share how many miles we have completed, so we can track how far we’ve come and how far we have to go to reach those 5605.8 miles.

Step 4 – Bask in the GLORY of all you've accomplished and CELEBRATE the journey we have taken together as we send your finisher medal and other swag.
